For 2025, the solstice happens on Sunday, Dec 21 at 10:03 AM EST
The Winter Solstice is the moment each year when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted furthest away from the Sun.
The Winter Solstice is perfect because it’s the deepest “pause” of the year—the longest night—then the light begins its return.
Think of the solstice as a sacred moment to honor the darkness, your rest, at time to release anything that does not serve you and then welcome the returning of light, hope, intention, and a renewal of energy for your soul.
Your Sacred Moment
Take a moment to be present in a quiet, warm comfortable place.
Light a scented candle or hold a treasured crystal while you relax and have this wonderful moment to yourself.
Put one hand over your heart and the other over your belly button.
Close your eyes and breath gently. Take several deep breaths to honor your peace.
When you’re ready, on the exhale, imagine the heaviness leaving your body like a dark cloud. Then slowly, gently breathing in deeply, picture a small sunrise inside your chest—tiny, steady, expanding and getting larger.
Then Whisper: “Even a little light changes everything.”
Whispering the affirmation allows the brain to register the saying further enhancing the belief.
Meditate on this for 5 minutes (if possible)
The Start the Release-The Darkness
Write: “I’m ready to let go of……fears
I’m ready to let go of…….. old stories
I’m ready to let go of ………old habits
I’m ready to let go of…………..
I release the version of me who…………..
I forgive myself for…………..
I release the past with love and forgiveness
Return-The Light
Write: “As the light returns, I choose…boundaries
As the light returns, I choose……healing
As the light returns, I choose…..consistency
As the light returns, I choose……peace
My nervous system remembers peace.
I welcome heart-felt healing.
I choose gentleness and truth.
I honor what got me here.
The past is complete. I am here now.
It’s best to journal your Sacred Winter Solstice meditation
Intentions become specific so your brain can start noticing opportunities and make changes as necessary.
The act of naming what you feel and what you need can give your emotions a safe place to land.
When you return later so see what you wrote-and how far you have come-you reinforce the promises you have made to yourself.
